Happy birthday, Land Rover Discovery. The first example of Land Rover’s famous family 4x4 hit showrooms in 1989 – to celebrate, here’s the inevitable special edition model. It’s the Land Rover Discovery XXV, based on the top-spec model of the recently revised Discovery 4, and packing a few bespoke touches.

The Roadster will have the same 6.3 litre engine as the Gullwing – meaning 0-60 in around 4 seconds and a top speed of 195mph – but it will make do with a canvas top. Which of course means no Gullwing doors. But it would seem the sensible way to go.
What a difference a year makes. Last year Nissan exhibited a self-parking car at CEATEC, Japan's largest show for IT and electronics. Back then a Nissan NSC-2015 concept car, a Nissan Leaf with what seemed like a couple hundred pounds worth of computers in the trunk, was able to find a parking spot for itself under controlled conditions and park itself.
